There are several great quotes from the Bible and from missionaries themselves that explain the reasons that people should engage in Africa missionary work.
One such quote is from Hudson Taylor where he says that “God’s work done in God’s way will never lack God’s supply.”
Many missionaries are inspired and encouraged to go to Africa because they believe God is on their side to fulfill their mission of spreading the gospel.
But Africa is a dangerous place, and some precautions should be taken before heading out on a plane to Africa.
It is at least fair to warn the missionaries about the possible dangers they face even if they don’t take any precautions against them.
These facts about Africa are sobering. Over 12 million adults have died of AIDS in Africa. 65% of Africa’s soil suffers from degradation, making farming, subsistence, and cash cropping hard.
More than half of Africans live on less than $1 per day. More than 1/3 of the population is undernourished, and these people desperately need clean water, food, and medical care.
This area is ripe for missionary work because of all the people in need. There is no better way to show good Christian behavior befitting a missionary than to help with practical needs, and there are plenty of practical needs in Africa.
Some of the organizations that do missionary work in Africa include Missionaries of Africa which has been around since 1868, Africa Mission Resource Center, Society of African Missions, and others that seek to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through missionary efforts abroad in the continent of Africa.
The Society of African Missions, for instance, is a very helpful missionary organization. It is composed of a community of Catholic missionaries that come from all across the globe with a dedicated promise to serve all the people of Africa. It has been in operation for more than 150 years.
Men and women, brothers and sisters as they are called, bring the people of Africa the gospel of Jesus Christ in every single African country. The founder’s goal was to preserve the culture of African people and still inform them of the gospel of Jesus Christ all together. The society goes through with this by maintaining museums that house African culture. You can donate online even if you can’t physically take part in the missionary work that is going on.
You can get frontline reports, see photos, videos, and learn about the history and missions going on with the Society of African Missions.
