Do You Know The Signs Of Cold Feet
Almost everyone gets cold feet to some degree or another. The thing is that most people are strong enough to resist it or in love enough to ignore it. However, there are people who seem to be afflicted much more than others. These unfortunate people are the ones who barely make it through the ceremony without bolting. They sweat profusely and their eyes are constantly darting about, looking for avenues of escape. If you suspect your immanent spouse to be one of these poor souls but you are not sure what to look for, here are some of the tell tale signs and how to spot them.
The first thing you can do if you want the down and dirty info on your spouse and you want it on the down low, which is slang for if you want to know how he or she is reacting but you don’t want them to know that you know, is to use spies. This is very easily done with bridesmaid gifts or maid of honor gifts that are overly expensive. You basically hire the person to be your spy and pay them out in the open to avoid blowing their cover with an unusually expensive yet expected gift. However, you will want to watch your camp and make sure your groomsmen are not suddenly wearing Rolexes or that your groomsman is not sporting around town in a new car that you know he can’t afford. These are telltale signs that the enemy, or in this case, your betrothed is watching you closer than you think.
If your spies report to you that your soon to be spouse has purchased a plane ticket for Jamaica for the day of your wedding but you were honeymooning in Hawaii, you can take this as a sure sign of cold feet. This would be the time to test your information. Watch for other signs like if they suddenly start using a Jamaican accent, mon, dat wood be a sign dat dey might be goin to Jamaica to warm dem feets, mon.
If you catch your future spouse practicing the short sprint and you find they are wearing running shoes under that beautiful wedding dress or sharp tuxedo, they may be planning to sprint back up the aisle at the last possible moment. Little things on your wedding day are sure indications of a possible last minute break that they might not be aware of planning themselves. Quick, unconscious glances at their watch every couple of seconds tells you they are thinking about their time running out. At this point, check and see if there is a car parked on the corner, empty and idling. If there is a taxi waiting for someone but the driver tells you he or she does not know whom, they were just told to be out there at five minutes before your wedding is scheduled, you might want to pay the taxi and send it on its way.
If, during the ceremony, you hear a cell phone ringing somewhere under that veil and she tells you to hang on because she has to take this call and then heads up the aisle as if looking for privacy, odds are she won’t be coming back. Fortunately for you, this is more a call for help than an actual break and you still have time to persuade her back to the alter. If, however, you are standing at the alter alone, with all of the guests seats on your side full but the groom isn’t there and no one on his side made it either, it is a safe bet that he got cold feet and told everyone he knew except you. If this is the case, all you can do is cross your fingers and hope that the best man is single, rich, good looking, and will step up to the plate.
