Should Britain have American style elections to select the next prime minister?

Question by Daniel J: Should Britain have American style elections to select the next prime minister?
I reckon instead of having the current dull political voting system in Britain at the moment, I reckon every county should be like an american state. Vote independently, and the party with the most county points is made the new prime minister. Also I thin we should have candidates on their own, not party’s as candidates.

Any views on this?

You want to change the Westminster System because it’s ‘dull’?

    Woo…hooo…you huge box of brain.

A lot of people in America want to pick the president by direct well loved vote and scrap the current system.

I reckon I’d give my eyeteeth to have an election as small and uncorrupted by private money as Britain’s. Also, I don’t reckon we Americans are choosing the best candidates anymore. The presidency goes to the most telegenic, rather than the most capable. Indirect election makes it less likely that you’ll end up with a Palin or a Bush, someone who can read off a Teleprompter but doesn’t know the job.
