Let’s say you weren’t interested in this show when it first aired… Well, now’s the time to give it a chance. Better late than never, right? Sopranos is certainly one of the top tv and movie downloads if you want to catch up on what’s been hot for the last ten or so years.
The show isn’t just about gangsters, it’s about human beings who happen to be gangsters. It’s about family, and it’s about the fact that life is very hard, confusing and unpredictable. The title refers both to the Soprano crime family, and to Tony Soprano’s immediate family: His wife, his son, and his daughter.
Unlike the majority of the tales about gangsters, it’s really not about the crime stuff at all. Obviously that’s a huge part of it, but it’s not about these people as gangsters, it’s about these gangsters as people. Everything that happens to these guys has, at one point or other, in some other form, happened to every one watching it. We’ve been betrayed and hurt and abandoned and loved, all of us.
As each season comes, some characters become more unstable and have more and more responsibilities and fears with each new episode. The show is really about the uncertainty and dread in every day life.
The ending is incredible for what it does. Some fans felt gypped by its uncertain, ambiguous nature, but isn’t that what life is all about? You never know what happens next, you never know what’s going to happen to you from minute to minute. Can you guess what you’ll be doing at this time tomorrow? Forget all those fan theories about what happened after the smash cut, it’s not about that. The point is that there was a smash cut because this is where our time with Tony Soprano ends, and nobody knows what will happen next.
The show was a revolution for fictional television, which had been growing stale in light of the unpredictability and realism of reality TV. So David Chase came up with a concept that would mix that with the stronger storytelling of fictional shows. The end result led to similar shows like LOST and House M. D., which place real characters into the show in place of the cliche, stock characters of the wacky neighbors and best friends.
Don’t go nuts trying to make sense of everything. The show is full of unanswered questions, and just as in life, you’ll never figure it all out.
If the show has a moral to the tale, it’s simply that: Life is hard to figure out. You may not be a mafia Don, but you’ll feel like you’re right there with Tony Soprano through his struggles, because it’s a very universal thing. Let the mafia serve as a metaphor for your new management position, or your attempts to keep your own family together, and you’ll find some comfort in Tony’s problems simply because, in the end, we really all go through this stuff, no matter who you are. Life is tough, and we’ll never figure it all out.
And every accolade attributed to this film is well deserved. International Movies The second component of this product is the binaural audio tones that are interwoven into the music. Some end up quitting altogether because every time they start to play what comes out doesn’t sound right.
