Why did God use humble, relatively uneducated people to speak and write the New Testament?

Question by ??? ?????? (bar_enosh): Why did God use humble, moderately uneducated people to speak and write the New Testament?
Instead of the influential and scholarly scribes and Pharisees?

The people who wrote the New Testament did not have scholarly credentials. The followers of Jesus Christ were ordinary people. Jesus himself was reproached by the religious leaders of his day for his lack of scholarship.

In an attempt to ridicule Jesus, the religious leaders said, “How does this man know so much when he has never been to school?” (John 7:15, Excellent News Bible) Or, as another translation puts it, “How did this man get such learning without having studied?” (John 7:15, New International Version)

Concerning the apostles of Jesus, it is said that “they were unschooled, ordinary men.” (Acts 4:13, New International Version) They were “ordinary men of no education.” (Acts 4:13, Excellent News Bible) Yet, God used these humble men to write and teach His Word.

  1. David Carrington Jr. says:

It’s common in fairytales for the hero to be a poor peasant, who must prove himself with pluck and wit.

  2. ?Machine Head? says:

Most of the writers of the Bible were from the educated class.
The thought that the writers of the Bible came from the humble classes is just romantic nonsense.

Your use of Baruch’s signet as your avatar itself belies the thought of your question.

  3. Kobayashi says:

God not exist, is uneducated people believe such nonsense, is common theme of fairy tales, e.g. hideous duckling, Cinderella, etc. have common people become greater of aristocrats, is their naive dream never occur of reality.

  4. Follows Jesus says:

because its more believable if men who do not know anything write it then published authors and scholars who can have made it up and come up with it on their own.

God backed up these men with miracles and signs.
that is why many believe the words they have written

its less likely a fraud then if educated men had written it.

Which is more of a miracle a well educated person and skillful talking about God or those who are painstaking worthless who claim it is and the miracles used to back up their word?
